Description:
The smock is a traditional Ghanaian dress made from cotton
wool by a simple wooden fabric. A color combination of yarn is selected,
arranged and woven into narrow cloth which is then used to sew the smock. The
smock is sown with needle. A collection of many small weavers and sewers supply
all quantities of the product. The dress is worn for Traditional and official
occasions. It is also worn as a jacket over a suite. The smock has loose folds
at the lower half that make it appropriate for dancing the "Damba", a
traditional dance of the peoples of Northern Ghana. It comes in many forms
ranging from short sleeves to long sleeves.
